Activity Reports

Period : June 1 - June14 2006

Activities:

• Live, interactive show with civic & other opinion leaders on the KBC Maasai Radio Service titled, “ Ore Eng'eno Naa Eng'olon

Objective/Results/Remarks

•  Local language radio programmes for human rights education (HRE) & advocacy on the CDF Act and other devolved funds.
•  Mainstreaming of human rights in Devolved Funds (Equality, Equity/non- discrimination) e.g. Gender mainstreaming.
• Some listeners said they had never heard of the existence of such funds before the airing of these programmes. Sentiments from listeners were that only a small clique of elite persons affiliated to the MP seems to have adequate information on CDF, and how they can participate. This recalls sentiments expressed in last year's pre-referendum programmes that devolution can only work together with democratization of even the smallest local structures, transparency and a generally informed public.

•  How the constituents can tell the difference between what the MP is doing for them from their personal money, or from CDF, or whether it is the council implementing the project under LATF or roads being repaired from CDF or KRBFs.
